Spring 2019 Crowdfunding Program Syllabus
Congratulations on your acceptance into the Prolific Works Spring 2019 Crowdfunding Program! This program includes a five-week course that will teach you how to launch a crowdfunding campaign in order to cover the costs of editing, designing, and formatting a book. The program offers authors guidance and best practices for engaging their biggest fans through crowdfunding. Crowdfunding can be a daunting endeavor, but step-by-step logistical support helps a lot in pulling off a successful crowdfunding campaign. We offer hands-on support, which means our team will facilitate some of the more stressful parts of the process and will be available to address any questions or concerns you may have. The course website will also offer a critical network of your author peers to move through this process together. You are not alone on this journey!
The bulk of the course information will be conveyed through instructional video sessions each week. These video lectures will be roughly 30 minutes to an hour in length, and will be taught by experienced course instructor, Jay Swanson. These videos will be posted at 9 a.m. ET on Mondays in the Resources section of the course website.
Along with the video sessions, you will be required to complete homework assignments each week that will help you develop your campaign. These assignments will be found under the Tests & Quizzes section of the course website.
Our team will guide and inform you on how you will use the funds you earn from this program to pay for necessary publishing expenses: editors, designers, copyrights, printing, and more. After weeks of hard work to build and promote your campaigns, you'll be able to hold your book in your hands!
Best of all, this program is risk-free to you! Best of all, this program is risk-free to you! The program fee is 10% of your final campaign goal amount, and we only collect this fee if your campaign successfully funds. In addition to the expert guidance you'll receive, authors who fund will be given a year’s worth of credit towards the Prolific Works Pro plan—a $600 value—which will be applied directly to your account after your campaign has finished. Your Prolific Works account can be used to fulfill digital rewards to your backers once your campaign has funded.
Most people spend several months planning for a campaign, but our course will allow you to create and launch one within eight weeks, with most of the stress taken off your shoulders as we guide you through this process! You will start the course at the beginning of February, and launch your campaign by April 1st.
