Unlimited vs Limited Campaigns
When setting the parameters of your campaign (giveaway), you will have the option of limiting your giveaway to a certain number of copies (example: 100) or making it unlimited. Whether or not your giveaway is limited or unlimited determines how many people can claim your book or if any amount of people can claim it.
Unlimited Campaigns
An unlimited campaign is one where there is no limit to how many people can claim a freebie from a giveaway. The majority of our authors make their campaigns unlimited.
When to Make an Unlimited Campaign
You should consider making your campaign unlimited if:
- You want to use your campaign to reach new readers and generate new sales.
- You want to use a preview (only giving away a few chapters) to let new readers discover your content without giving away everything for free.
- You are creating a Public campaign.
Note: Prolific Works only promotes unlimited giveaways in our newsletter and on our social media pages, so if you're interested in an Prolific Work promotion, make sure your giveaway is unlimited.
How to Make an Unlimited Campaign
- If you're creating a Public giveaway, your giveaway will be automatically unlimited.
- If you're creating a Private or Custom giveaway, find section 2 labeled "Distribution".
- Make sure the box next to "Unlimited copies" has a checkmark in it. If the box is empty, click on it to select it.
-
The giveaway will now be unlimited.
Limited Campaigns
A limited campaign is one that limits the amount of copies of a giveaway that can be claimed. After the set amount of giveaways are claimed, the campaign will automatically expire.
When to Make a Limited Campaign
You should consider making your campaign limited if:
- You want to be very cautious about who can claim your freebie.
- You are using the campaign to deliver to a specific group of people.
- You are NOT trying to gain new readers.
- You are NOT using the campaign to generate sales.
Note: The Limited option is a great way to securely deliver Advanced Reviewer Copies or rewards to specific readers but is NOT an ideal way to create a campaign to gain new readers or generate sales.
How to Make a Limited Campaign
- If you're creating a Public giveaway, your giveaway will be automatically unlimited. If you want to make a giveaway that is limited and Public, you have to make a Custom giveaway.
- If you're creating a Private or Custom giveaway, find section 2 labeled "Distribution".
- Make sure the box next to "Unlimited copies" does not has a checkmark in it. If the box has a checkmark, click on it to deselect it.
-
The giveaway will now be limited to whatever number is in the box. If you do not enter a number, the following error will appear:
-
In order to set how many copies you want to give away, type a number into the box under "Distribution". If you are creating a Private giveaway, the number of copies is automatically set to 500, but you can click in this box to change the number.
- The above giveaway will expire after 100 copies of the book are claimed.
